The good: Handsome, hefty, good fluid capacity, nice double-sided level viewing window. Definitely a good-looking lighter.

The bad: The flip up lid is too close to the jets. If you're using it to light cigarettes, this will absolutely not be a problem and it will probably be a 5-star lighter for you. For cigars, this aspect impedes your ability to direct the flame around the foot of the cigar. Also on mine, the flame can only be set to what seems to me to be a relatively low level before it just whiffs and there's no ignition. This compounds the problem with the lid. It may be that my unit is not up to snuff. I'm a fan of Xikar products in general, but I think for the money, you can do better than this model.

After a month of daily usage, the lighter has gained the ability to have the flame adjusted higher and still ignite. Not sure what the dynamic is there, I never gave it anything but the expensive fuel. Maybe that was just it's "break-in period." Anyway, that makes for a big difference and a fourth star.
