Honestly, everyone should read Dr. Holick's "Vitamin D Solution" book. If have read it (and even you don't want to read the entire thing, just read the synopsis somewhere on line), it is truly one of the most important health books available that is written for laymen. Dr. Holick is board certified MD/PhD (professor at Boston University Medical Center) who has pretty much spent his entire life researching the bioactive form of Vitamin D. I was distressed when I read that most Americans are deficient in Vitamin D and if you read the whole host of health problems that are associated with Vitamin D deficiency (cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, chronic fatigue, among others), although Vitamin D deficiency may not be the single most important underlying factor, it is certainly up there. Do yourself a favor and ask your MD to check your Vitamin D levels and if you are deficient, make sure to start supplementing at a level your physician thinks is reasonable. If your physician hasn't read Dr. Holick's book or isn't interested in becoming familiar with it, it is in your best interest to find a physician who understands the profound implications of this vitamin/hormone. I have spent most of my adult life reading medical papers/abstracts, Dr. Holick's work is absolutely groundbreaking and so incredibly important. If you don't understand the science behind it, find someone who can explain it to you...

I rotate among several Vitamin D3 formulas, and Jarrows is one of my preferred brands. Since increasing my Vitamin D (I too was deficient!
