It's light yet rugged, comfortable to hold for long period, has a wide field of view, is easy to keep steady so image does not blur or you positioning on the page become disoriented - this is simply the best text reading magnifier I have tried and worth every penny. I've used DOZENs of magnifiers by now, since I've lived with MACD for nearly a decade. This fits in a man's shirt pocket during reading breaks, but I would not walk around like that.
my only criticism to COIL is the lens frame is flush with the convex center of the lens - this creates feather like scratches at the glass center after Months of daily use. my solution was to super glue a ring of silicon air tubing around both sides of the lens frame, thus creating a few millimeters of cushion so when you lay this hand magnifier flat on any surface, you won't risk any abrasion against the glass lens itself.
